How To Prepare And Repair Your Hair At Winter

The cold weather and that means the central heating is going on. However, cold weather and central heating are both things that can take their toll on your hair. They will dry your hair out and leave it dehydrated. But don’t worry; help is at hand!

In this blog post we share the 5 ‘H’s of how you can prepare and repair your hair at winter;

Hats

A thick hat is a great investment for the winter months. It will stop the elements getting close to your hair. Covering your head and hair with a hat or scarf is a great way to protect your hair from the cold or wet weather.

Hydration

The cold weather and warm central heating will dry your hair out, so you need to keep it hydrated. Drink plenty of water. If you’re staying hydrated on the inside, this will show on the outside too. Keeping your water levels topped off will result in healthier hair and scalp.

Heat Prevention

Try to avoid the heated tools for styling your hair. The heat will dry out your hair and can risk serious damage to your hair and scalp. We would recommend that you reduce the heat of heated tools on your hair and reduce how much you use them too. If you do have to use them, make sure you use your heat protectant products too.

Hair Care

While you may be tempted to turn up the heat of your shower, this will do your hair more harm that good. Avoid using very hot water as a way to warm you up, as it will harm your hair and scalp. We would recommend that you blow-dry your hair in the winter (carefully as above), to dry your hair. The cold weather can freeze your hair which can result in breakage.

Hair Cuts

The cold weather will result in dry and brittle ends for your hair. Regular trims will help reduce the number of split ends. These trims every few weeks will also encourage healthy hair growth which is always a good thing.
