Easy Ways To Keep Your Hair Healthy This Winter

The cold, wet and windy winter weather can be really harsh on hair. All the winter elements will make your hair dehydrated and more prone to breakage. In this blog post we share just some of our hairdresser’s top tips and easy ways to keep your hair healthy this winter.

  • Turn Down The Heat

A hot shower on a cold, dark morning may feel like the perfect treat, but it will not be a treat for your hair. The hot water will strip the moisture from your hair, and also your skin. We would recommend you keep your showers lukewarm and as short as possible. If you are desperate for a hot shower to warm up, make sure you grab your shower cap.

  • Add Extra Moisture

Treating your hair to some extra moisture is a great idea and will combat your dry hair. There are loads of great moisture creams and leave in moisture masks out there. While the nights are cold and we are stuck in lockdown, why not treat yourself to a pamper evening full of moisturising? Your skin and hair will thank you for it.

  • Opt For Air Drying

It may be fun to have a blow out or straighten your hair so it looks fabulous, but it will not do your hair any favours. Instead allow your hair to air-dry as much as possible. Give your straighteners and curling irons a break and your hair will stay healthier this winter. If you do have a special night our and really want to use your heated tools, make sure you grab the heat protectant!

  • Grab A Hat

As we’ve said, the winter weather elements can do a lot of damage to your hair, so grab a hat to literally protect your hair. If you’d rather a hooded jacket to avoid the risk of hat hair, that will protect your hair too. A satin lined cap is a great option to keep the hat but avoid the hat hair this winter. It will reduce the risk of frizzy hair too.

  • Keep Up With Haircuts

While we know that hasn’t been easy this year with the first lockdown followed by a second. However, as soon as your local hairdressers in Sleaford opens, make sure you are in there. Check out our website now to pre-book your appointment for when lockdown is over. 3 Common Blow Dry Mistakes To Avoid

Here at Zeebra Hair Salon in Sleaford we do a lot of blow-dries for our clients. These range from curly blow-dries to straight blow-dries, blow-dries for volume and blow-dries for that special nigh out. However, we also know clients like to do their own blow dry at home.

These are 3 common blow dry mistakes people make, and how you can avoid them.

  1. An Average Hair Dryer

Your blow dry will only be as good as your hair dryer. If you want the perfect, professional blow dry with the ‘fresh from hair solon’ look – then you’ll need a professional hair dryer. While a cheap hair dryer may be tempting, or perhaps you have come attached to your old one, a brand-new professional hair dryer will create that professional blow dry look. A professional hair dryer will also come with the attachments that you need to create the perfect blow dry. Pop into our salon and we can recommend the best professional hair dryer for you to help avoid this common blow dry mistake.

  1. No Heat Protection

This is a huge no-no. We are amazed at how many people skip the heat protection products when doing a blow dry at home. This stuff is designed to protect, care for and look after your hair. Why wouldn’t you use it? It’ a super simple step in creating the perfect blow dry that you really shouldn’t ignore. If you’re not sure of the best heat protecting product for your hair, speak to our hairdressers in Sleaford. We will take a look at your hair, ask about your hair care routine and recommend the best hair protecting product for you.

  1. Where You Start

We see so many people that begin their blow dry at the back of the head – but you actually need to start at the front. It may feel awkward at first as it’s not what you’re used to, but it will be worth it. The front of your hair is the bit that you’ll see the most. Concentrating on the parts that are most visible will ensure they dry out less before you get around to them. Work front to back, not back to front. It will result in a beautiful blow dry and reduce the risk of frizzy hair too.

If you have a girl’s night out, date night or a special occasion coming up – book yourself in for a blow dry in Sleaford. You’re guaranteed a great finished result and it will give you time to relax and enjoy yourself too.

Hair Care Tips For Your Autumn Hair

As the sunny skies are replaced with cold winds and rain – it’s time to change up your hair care routine. The cooler weather of the autumn often brings dry and cold air. For many of us this can mean frizzy, brittle and even unmanageable hair. But this can be avoided! We have put together some hair care tips for your autumn hair to help keep your healthy throughout the autumn season.

Relax The Ponytail

The ponytail is a great style for summer, but as the weather turns colder it can result in serious breakage and scalp stress. Try to keep your hair down during the colder months, or softly pinned up. If you have to wear your hair in a ponytail do it a few times a week at the most. Avoid wearing your hair in this style when you go to bed.

Get It Trimmed

No matter your hairstyle, or the hairstyle you are trying to achieve – you need a regular trim. A regular haircut every 8 to 12 weeks, even if it is just to clean up the ends, is highly recommended. During the summer weather the sun exposure can leave your hair damaged and friend. Check with your hairdresser in Sleaford to see if more than a little trim is required.

Add The Moisture

This is our top hair care tip for your autumn hair and one you definitely need to take on board. It is vital that you add a mask of glass treatment to your hair care routine. This will condition the ends while adding lots of healthy shine to your hair. A bi-weekly deep conditioning treatment is recommended. If you’re not sure of the best moisture adding hair product for your hair type, pop into our hair salon in Sleaford. We have a fab selection of products we can recommend.

New Shampoo & Conditioner

When choosing your new shampoo and conditioner, always speak to your professional hairdresser in Sleaford for their recommendation. You need a quality cleanser that will wash away any normal wear and tear from the environment. However, you need to ensure it doesn’t strip your hair of its natural oils and lipids though. Again, have a chat to out fantastic hair stylists in Sleaford. We can recommend the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair type.

Three Reasons To Visit Your Hairdresser Regularly

Three Reasons To Visit Your Hairdresser Regularly

You will have heard that you need to visit your hairdressers regularly, but you might not be sure why. In this blog post we talk about three reasons to visit your hairdresser in Sleaford regularly and how that will benefit your hair. Ideally you should visit your hairdresser every 4-6 weeks if you want luscious locks.

These are just three of the reasons you should visit your hairdresser regularly.

  1. Healthy Hair

By visiting the hair salon on a regular basis you are keeping your hair in the healthiest condition possible. By visiting once every 4-6 weeks our hairdressers in Sleaford can make sure your hair is well groomed and still in good condition. We can also treat you to a deep conditioning hair treatment to give your hair some extra love and attention. If you have any hair care worries, then we can discuss these too and recommend ways to fix your hair before more serious damage is caused. A regular visit to the hairdressers will keep your hair looking fresh and feeling healthy.

  1. Vibrant Hair Colour

Regularly visiting your hairdresser when you have coloured hair is essential for keeping your vibrant looking hair. We can freshen up your hair colour to ensure that it stays fresh and vibrant. We can offer a root touch up or a toner refresh, for example. Both of these treatments will keep your hues dazzling and stunning. We will keep a record of the tailor-made hair colour you have, so we can make sure your colour stays the same gorgeous shade.

  1. Stronger, Longer Hair

It doesn’t sound right, but by cutting your hair it will actually grow longer. Visiting our hairdressers in Sleaford will encourage strength and vitality in your hair. A regular trim every 4-6 weeks will promote healthy hair growth. The trim will get rid of those weaker and damaged tips and rid you of split ends too. When split ends are left too long they will work their way up your hair strands. Heat on your hair and general wear and tear can cause serious damage to your locks, so a regular hair appointment can give your hair the extra care it needs.

When you’re next at our hair salon in Sleaford ask your hairdresser when they would like you to come back. Everyone is different and their hair is different too. Your next visit could be anything between 4 and 8 weeks away. This is dependent on your hair condition, colour, style and cut.

How To Care For Your New Fringe Haircut

How To Care For Your New Fringe Haircut

The full fringe hairstyle is a bold look, but it looks incredibly and has loads of benefits. It is a hairstyle that can go with a classic bob or a gorgeous long hairstyle. The fringe frames the face perfectly and beautifully –but it does need caring for!

In this blog post we have put together some top tips so you know how to care for your new fringe haircut. If a fringe is a completely new hairstyle for you then these simple fringe hair care tips will come in really handy!

Clean Fringe

Your fringe touches your face and this can result in oils from your skin getting into your hair and making it look greasy. If you have a fringe you or shorter hair then you may need to wash your hair more than usual. However, if you prefer not to wash your hair too often then just shampooing the fringe is fine. You may even prefer a quick spray of dry shampoo which will also do the job.

The typical British weather can often bring unexpected windy days or heavy showers, so pop a comb in our handbag. This way, no matter what the weather brings, you can keep your fabulous fringe looking, well, fabulous!

Fringe Styling

You will love trying out new styles with your new fringe and haircut in Sleaford. Take the time to play around with your new fringe. You can try out up-dos, different partings, pinning sections back and even the classic beehive if you have time. Your new fringe gives you a new look. Embrace this new look; find some different hairstyles to suit you and the day ahead.

Blow Drying

We would recommend that you blow-dry your fringe when you get out of the shower. This is because your fringe will dry much faster than the rest of your hair. You need to grab a curly bristle brush and then use the nozzle of the hair dryer to direct the hot air where you want it. Do not forget to use heat protection products on your hair to reduce the risk of heat damage.

If you want to tuck the ends under then blow dry your fringe from above with the bristle brush below. You could also comb the fringe straight and blow dry it for a neat and straight look. However, if you prefer a natural look you can twist sections of your fringe so they dry in same direction as the rest of your hair.

Fringe Maintenance

It is important that you keep your fringe the right length and right shape for your face. You may want to book in for a trim in between hair appointments in Sleaford. This will help maintain your fringe and keep it exactly as you want. There is no need to book this appointment at your hair cut, just wait and see how quickly your fringe grows and then you can book a trim in Sleaford, before your next ‘main’ hair appointment.

If you’ve been considering a fringe for a while but you’re not sure if it is right for you; book a free hair consultation. Our friendly hairdressers in Sleaford will have a chat about your hair and the look you want to achieve. They can then recommend the best hairstyle of fringe for you.

Youthful Hairstyles To Make You Feel Confident

Youthful Hairstyles To Make You Feel Confident

The right hairstyle can do amazing things for your confidence. The way you style and wear your hair not only creates your ‘look’ but it also attracts attention to the parts of your face you want. By having a youthful hairstyle and attracted the attention to right features, you will look younger, heathier and more youthful, while feeling more confident.

We have put together a few youthful hairstyles that our hairdressers in Sleaford recommend. However, the best thing you can do is book a free hair consultation so we can talk about you and your hair care routine. Our professional hairdressers will look at your hair type, condition and face shape. We can talk about the features of your face you love and which hairstyle will attract attention to these parts of your face.

So, what are these youthful hairstyles to make you feel confident?

The Wavy Bob

Think Meg Ryan and Nicole Kidman. This is a really timeless classic that suits older and younger women alike. It’s been a popular celebrity style for some years and for good reason too. The bob hairstyle has always been popular among older women, but adding in the wave adds a bit of youth, shape and volume. The wavy bob is perfect for almost any face shape and it is not a fashion of hairstyle that will ever become outdated.

Soft Bangs

The full bangs can be a life-saver for many women. It can hide those facial lines that you feel age you. However, it’s a really popular style among younger women, which is why it is such a youthful hairstyle. It’s a flattering shape and a youthful style, which is why so many women over 50 are opting for the soft bangs as their preferred hairstyle. If you have a longer face or your face is oval shaped, this hairstyle works perfectly. That said, if you get a professional hairdresser in Sleaford (like our team) then the right shape can soften and slim a fuller face too.

Pixie Cut

No matter what anyone thinks, shorter hair will always be easier to manage and maintain. It’s quicker and easier to style too. A neat pixie cut is the perfect youthful hairstyle if you’re keen to keep your hair short, while looking younger. It’s a quick style hair cut too, needing a touch of volumiser products, gel or wax and you’re done. If you want to stay fashionable, but want to avoid hours of hair maintenance then this could be the perfect youthful hairstyle for you.

These are just 3 of the many youthful hairstyles you may want to consider. As we said, book yourself a free hair consultation with our friendly hairdressers in Sleaford. They will take the time to get to know you, your likes and your hair. The perfect hairstyle can then be recommended for you and you can chat about how to keep it looking great for longer too.
